2023 Gala Honoree - Susan Ferguson

This year we were thrilled to spotlight our honoree, Susan Ferguson, for her years of commitment to the Ridgefield A Better Chance program.  Since 2007 Sue has taken on many roles for RABC and has been integral to our ongoing success in the community.

During her nine years on our Board, she served as the Fundraising Chair securing large financial gifts, bringing in new foundations, organizing our Annual Appeal, and implementing  donor software and processes. She also co-chaired many events including the RABC Jazz Festivals and Golf Outings. And, in partnership with Fairfield County Bank, she created a bank-funded summer internship program.

Sue has also been heavily involved with our scholars volunteering as an Academic Advisor, serving on our Selection Committee, chairing Orientation Weekends, and taking scholars on college visits.

Her passion to spread awareness of RABC has led to her continued work behind the scenes establishing an online e-newsletter, collaborating with past alumni and board members to update our website, and managing our social media and print publicity.

Sue’s community involvement is not limited to RABC. She has served as Branchville PTA President, PTA Executive Board Member at ERMS and RHS, Grade Level Advisor for National Charity League (Ridgefield Chapter), and served on the Board of Music Ministries at the First Congregational Church. Notably, for over 25 years she has been the Chair of the Evelyn C. Peeler Children’s Holiday Gift Fund. This is a local non-profit that provides Ridgefield families in need with gifts of new clothing, toys and food certificates during the holidays as well as Back-to-School certificates.

Thank you Sue for all you have done and continue to do for Ridgefield A Better Chance!

“It has been profoundly gratifying to be involved with Ridgefield A Better Chance. This is a program that changes the lives of the wonderful RABC scholars enrolled here, a program that offers a window of possibility and options for these outstanding young women. Over the past 14 years I have been privileged to know many of the scholars as well as those local people who give the support needed to pursue those possibilities and realize their dreams. I am deeply moved and humbled to be honored by the Board of Directors at this year’s RABC Spotlight Gala.”
