House Cook
Ridgefield A Better Chance (RABC) is a community-based program that supports motivated young women of color from underserved areas by providing access to quality education and a nurturing home environment while they attend Ridgefield High School.
We have an immediate opening for a caring and organized House Cook skilled in the culinary arts to oversee evening meal planning and preparation for up to eight scholars, two resident staff members, and occasional guests, Monday through Friday for the remainder of the 2025/2026 school year. The ideal candidate will be thoughtful about students' food preferences, ensure meals are healthy and nutritious, and maintain the kitchen space and household inventory. Responsibilities include planning weekly menus, preparing dinners, shopping within budget for food and household supplies, and coordinating with staff and scholars to evaluate and adapt meal offerings throughout the year. This is a hands-on role that plays a key part in supporting our scholars’ overall well-being and success.
This position runs for the 2025-2026 academic year beginning as soon as possible and ending on the last day the students are in residence (TBD in June), based on the revised Ridgefield Public School calendar. The hours for this position are Monday-Friday, typically from 3:30pm-6:30pm. Pay range is $400-$450/week. Time off includes 5 paid sick days per year and 10 vacation days per year which must be taken on school holidays when the students are away from the house. In addition, the following are paid holidays: Memorial Day and Christmas Day.
