Life at RABC

At Ridgefield A Better Chance, we do more than provide access to a strong education — we create a second home.

Our Scholars live, learn, and grow in a safe, structured, and supportive environment that nurtures both academic and personal development. Life at RABC is rooted in sisterhood, mentorship, and a community of care.

Each Scholar is paired with a local host family who welcomes them into their home for a weekend and a half each month. This experience expands the sense of community and connection beyond the RABC house and provides a valuable support system throughout the Scholar’s time in Ridgefield.

Host families offer:

  • A change of pace and personal space outside the House

  • Meals, transportation, and one-on-one support

  • Deep relationships that often continue well after graduation

Inside the RABC House

The RABC house is situated on over an acre of land, is conveniently located within walking distance to the center of town, and less than a 15-minute drive from Ridgefield High School.

The house has four bedrooms for the Scholars along with two full baths and a study room with a printer. Each bedroom can accommodate two Scholars and is similar to a typical dorm room at a college. There is an open common area on the main level as well as a kitchen and a dining area. Another common area recreation room is located on the lower level, with two washer and dryers and another full bath.

In addition, there are two separate, full apartment style areas for the Resident Director and Resident Academic Director.  We also have a cook who is responsible for menu planning and shopping. Scholars are expected to help with food preparation on a rotating schedule.
